Who we are ?
At Heartland Family Karate our goal is to teach you the art of Goju Ryu. Our emphasis is upon the improvement of the mind, body and spirit.
What we do ?
We train hard and study a well rounded, traditional style of martial arts that is appropriate for all ages.
Heartland Family Karate practices a traditional Okinawan based karate called Goju Ryu. Our dojo is located just outside of Omaha in Elkhorn, Nebraska and is lead by Sensei Rick Royers.
Gōjū-ryū (剛柔流?), (Japanese for “hard-soft style”) is a traditional Okinawan style, featuring a combination of hard and soft techniques. It was founded by Chōjun Miyagi.
Gōjū-ryū incorporates both circular and linear movements into its curriculum, combining hard striking attacks such as kicks and close hand punches with softer open hand circular techniques for attacking, blocking, and controlling the opponent, including locks, grappling, takedowns and throws.
